Join the Historical Association of Lewiston as it presents 18th century tavern music of the Niagara Frontier at the new Lewiston Stone House at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21. Accomplished singer and guitarist Ron Cary from the Niagara County Historian's Office will perform period songs from the 1700s and offer interpretation of their meanings, and past and present versions; clothing and fashion; and the musical performance practices of the time.
The tavern songs include songs of love and country life, songs of soldiers and sailors of the sea, and a number of drinking songs and "bawdy" ballads.
This program will afford guests the opportunity to see the newly restored Lewiston Stone House, which hasn't been open to the public since the early '60s.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The Lewiston Stone House is located at 755 Center St.
