M&T Bank Dance Series: Dance Theatre of Harlem at UB

The Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo, will present Dance Theatre of Harlem on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre, located at the Center for the Arts, North Campus. There will be a pre-performance talk at 6:45 p.m. The performance is sponsored by M&T Bank.

For the last 43 years, Dance Theatre of Harlem has been an inspiration to the lives of the young people in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City. Founded in response to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Dance Theatre of Harlem was formed as a racially diverse company focused on creating innovative and bold new forms of artistic expression. Through these varied artistic interactions, the ambassadors in the Dance Theatre of Harlem have helped to build character and teach valuable life skills to countless people in New York City, across the country, and around the world.

As Dance Theatre of Harlem traverses its fifth decade, the company remains committed to the excellence that has sustained members over the years. The company is dedicated to reaching new audiences with its message of self-reliance, self-expression and individual responsibility.

The show will feature a Dance Theatre of Harlem classic, "Agon," as well as a number of contemporary pieces including: "In the Mirror of Her Mind," "Black Swan," "Far But Close" and "Return."
