16th annual Sweetheart Dinner and Basket Auction benefits the hungry and homeless of Niagara

Community Missions of Niagara Frontier announces its 16th annual Sweetheart Dinner and Basket Auction will be Friday, Feb. 1, at the Sheraton at the Falls, 300 Third St. The evening will include dinner and a cash bar, baskets, lottery, 50/50 split club, silent and live auction items, and live music by The Jerry Andres Band.

The night begins at 6 p.m. with the cash bar, basket viewing and wine tasting provided by Midnight Run Wine Cellars. With more than 100 themed baskets, there is sure to be the perfect Valentine's Day gift for everyone - even your furry friends. Dinner begins promptly at 7 p.m., followed by the silent and live auctions and basket distribution.

In 2012, this event raised more than $10,000 for crisis and community services programs, which include the homeless shelter, parole re-entry, community soup kitchen, clothes closet, HIV/AIDs residence, and food pantry. These programs are dedicated to restoring basic fundamental human needs of shelter, food, clothing and safety to all persons and families in need. This signature event will assist in continuing to provide food and shelter to our neediest neighbors of Niagara County.

Tickets to the Sweetheart Dinner and Basket Auction are $40 per person and can be reserved in tables of eight. If interested in taking part in the basket auction only, sheets of 25 tickets are available for $15. Basket viewing opens at 5 p.m. For those that wish to stay the night, the Sheraton has offered a special "Sweetheart" rate of $89.
