Rick Haight is new Chamber of Commerce board chairman

At the November board meeting of the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce, elections were held to fill open positions and appoint a new chairman of the board.

Richard J. Haight, of Advanced Design Group, was elected to fill the position of chairman, effective Jan. 1, 2013. George Osborne, president of Artpark & Company, previously held the position.

The Chamber of Commerce also officially moved its office to occupy the Lewiston Welcome Center at 895 Center St.

New board members, elected to serve three-year terms, are: Patricia Dettinger of Great Lakes Real Estate, Michael J. Freedman of Niagara University, and Bill Hilts Jr., an outdoor sports specialist. Re-elected to fill three-year terms are Michael Broderick of Orange Cat Coffee Company; Michael Dowd, attorney at law; Kenneth Scibetta of the Lewiston Village Pub & Restaurant; Jamie Symmonds of Angel to Apple; and Judith Maness of Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center. Newly appointed members include Dr. Shawn Daly, Ph.D., from Niagara University, taking the Rev. Joseph Levesque's board position; and Dotty Riordan, representing The Youngstown Business & Professional Association, filling the position previously held by Kenneth Greulich.

The directors elected to serve as officers on the executive board are as follows: Chairman Haight, First Vice Chairman Scibetta, Second Vice Chairman Fred Blue of Great Lakes Real Estate, Treasurer Gloria Baker of First Niagara Bank, and Secretary Kristen Trunzo of Artzee.

The Chamber of Commerce will hold its first meeting of 2013 on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Lewiston Village Pub & Restaurant.

The Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce is a personalized chamber whose mission is to unify the region and to promote it as a premiere place to live, work and play. The organization is responsible for coordinating efforts in the marketing and promotion of tourism, business development, quality of life and the history and culture of the region, which encompasses Lewiston, Youngstown, Porter, Ransomville and Sanborn.
