Mark your calendars for a special event taking place on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at the Lewiston Village Pub and Restaurant.

"Cupcakes for a Crown," a high school student cupcake competition, will be held that day starting at 2 p.m. Hosted by the Lewiston Village Pub, the event is a fundraiser for area resident Grace Breen's "quest for a crown," as she enters as Lewiston-Porter's representative in the Miss Teen USA Pageant.

Breen, 14, a Lewiston-Porter High School freshman honors student, is an international exchange student and deeply involved in the arts. She also holds a black belt in karate.

She has hopes of attending Niagara University and aspires to one day make a difference in children in her career as an elementary school teacher.

The community is invited to attend this event, which will feature entertainment by the Lew-Port youth band The Brass Monkeez, along with servings of appetizers, hot cocoa, apple cider and, of course, cupcakes. Donation is $10 per person and children under the age of 8 are admitted free.

For those unable to attend, donations for Grace may be mailed to the Lewiston Village Pub and Restaurant, 840 Center St., Lewiston, NY 14092.
