Rotary Club of Niagara County Central to award scholarships

The Rotary Club of Niagara County Central will again offer $1,000 scholarships to students from the Niagara-Wheatfield, Starpoint and Wilson school districts.

Students who reside in those districts and attend a New York state accredited high school may apply. The scholarships will be awarded based on community volunteer activities, need and leadership roles within the community. Applicants must present college acceptance letters.

Applicants must have a minimum of 2.6 or above GPA or an overall average of 82 or above. Students will be required to complete an application, present two letters of recommendation and complete a 350-word hand-written essay.

Applications can be picked up at Aldridge Family Chiropractic, 7225 Campbell Blvd., Suite 3, Pendleton; Car Shop North, 2986 Niagara Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda; Falcon Physical Therapy, 7300 Porter Road, Niagara Falls; or Wendt's Propane Gas Service, 5910 Ward Road, Sanborn.

Applications can also be found at the school district counseling centers and websites. Applications can be dropped off at the school counseling centers or mailed to the Rotary Club of Niagara County Central, P.O. Box 204, Sanborn, NY 14132. The deadline for submission is March 25, 2013.
