Marine Corps Reserve, Dunkin' Donuts and Basil Family of Dealerships storm Toys "R" Us for major shopping spree to support holiday toy collection drive

Members of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve joined Dunkin' Donuts franchisees and Basil Family of Dealerships representatives Friday for a large-scale shopping spree today at Toys "R" Us in Amherst to prepare the Toys for Tots program in Western New York for the holiday season.

The shopping spree was made possible by a first-time partnership in Western New York between Dunkin' Donuts and the Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots program. From Nov. 1 through 25, participating Dunkin' Donuts restaurants throughout the greater Buffalo area offered guests a special patriotic-themed donut as a thank you when they made a $1 donation to the Western New York Toys for Tots program.

Dunkin' Donuts raised $3,000 in partnership with its customers, which was used to purchase gifts for the Toys for Tots program during the shopping spree. The toys will be distributed by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to children and families in need residing in Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Wyoming and West Cattaraugus counties through the annual holiday collection drive.

"Dunkin' Donuts is honored to partner with our local Marines from Western New York to support Toys for Tots this holiday season. The outpouring of generosity from our loyal guests has been overwhelming," said Dunkin' Donuts Field Marketing Manager Alisa LaPlante. "We are deeply grateful for the work of the dedicated Marine Corps Reserve who bring so much joy to children throughout our region."

Dunkin' Donuts support in Western New York is an extension of the restaurant's partnership with the Toys for Tots program in the Greater Albany Capital Region, where Dunkin' Donuts has been the premier supporter of the program for the past four years. Since 2009, the annual Dunkin' Donuts Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Train - the only train of its kind in the country - has delivered thousands of toys to underserved children in Upstate New York over a two-day period in early December.
