Youngstown Free Library December programs

The Youngstown Free Library announces the following programs and activities taking place in December.

•On Saturday, Dec. 8, the library will participate in "Christmas in the Village" with a make and take craft time from 1 to 3 p.m. The library will remain open an extra hour.

•The library is hosting three "BTOP Express" classes on Thursdays, Dec 13 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the second floor library meeting room. Classes include:

-Mail Merge on Dec. 13, with instruction in Excel to create a database of names and addresses.

-Introduction to Twitter on Dec. 20. This class will introduce students to, and develop an understanding of, Twitter, and how it falls within the framework of Web 2.0 and social networking. In addition, participants will go through the steps to create their own Twitter account (if they choose to do so).

Registration is requested for both classes. Call 745-3555 or stop by the library to register.

•The Town of Porter Story Hour will be on Tuesday, Dec. 11, with sessions at 9:30 and 11 a.m. On Tuesday, Dec. 18, the two groups will combine for one holiday party at 10 a.m. The Porter Story Hour program will resume on Jan. 8, 2013.

•The Lewiston Porter Builders Club will present its December story hour on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. Builders Club students, under the direction of teacher Tina Oddy, plan their program for children at the preschool and elementary school levels. The theme of their Dec. 15 program is "Celebrating Holidays," and the craft will be a gingerbread house.
