Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union, the largest locally owned credit union in Western New York, is announcing plans for a new branch located at 721 Center St., in the Village of Lewiston (inside the former HSBC). This latest branch will open in January 2013.

Cornerstone CFCU is a not-for-profit, member-owned, credit union. Those who live, work, worship, volunteer or attend school in Niagara Country are eligible to join. The branch will be the fifth Cornerstone CFCU location in Niagara County, joining two branches in Lockport and one in Middleport and North Tonawanda.

"With the Lewiston branch, we have extended our reach to all four corners of Niagara County, effectively providing more residents with the opportunity to enjoy lower fees and better rates," said Ann Brittin, president and CEO of Cornerstone CFCU. "By joining an already thriving cultural community, we are committed to serving not only our members, but the area and surrounding neighborhoods of Lewiston as well."

Dedicated to helping members save money and get the things they need, Cornerstone CFCU offers a full range of low-cost financial products and services that meet the diverse needs of its members. These include traditional personal and business accounts, from checking and savings to credit and debit cards, in addition to a broad range of loan options and financial planning. A full-time loan officer is available to take loan applications, provide approvals and disburse funds right from the Lewiston branch.

"Since we are a local credit union, we can offer enhanced service with greater personal attention," said David Nemi, chairman of the Cornerstone CFCU board of directors. "We live and work right where our members do, and make major decisions on a local level that affect all of us. It's important to keep your money with those you trust, so it's easy to turn to us because we are always vested in the communities we work with."

With no-fee debit cards, direct deposit, 43,000-plus surcharge-free ATMs that extend into Canada, and free checking, online and mobile banking, Cornerstone CFCU offers the same opportunities and customized choices as a larger financial institution. Members also benefit from low rates on loans, higher investment rates, competitive dividends on deposits, a voice in how the credit union operates and many special discount programs.

Established in 1957 as Unit No. 1 Federal Credit Union, Cornerstone CFCU is a community-chartered, federally insured credit union. Cornerstone has grown to become the largest credit union based in Western New York with more than 46,000 members and assets in excess of $319 million.
