Interested in LASIK surgery for yourself, a relative, a friend or someone in need? Get your video cameras and iPhones ready. Fichte Endl & Elmer Eyecare presents the Great Holiday LASIK Giveaway.
Simply post a short video on the business' Facebook page telling why you or someone you know deserves LASIK. On Christmas, Dr. Claus M. Fichte will call the winner and award him the gift of sight.
"I have done a great deal of free surgery in third world countries. There is no reason why we shouldn't do the same for our patients right here in Western New York. Having a free surgery contest is a rewarding thing to do for our hometown folks, especially during this season of giving," said Dr. Thomas Elmer Jr.
"We are blessed with these wonderful technologies that can be truly life changing for so many of our patients. What better time than the holidays to share this gift?" said Dr. Michael J. Endl.
Entries must post on Facebook no later than midnight Dec. 23. More information on the LASIK procedure can be found on the Fichte Endl & Elmer Eyecare website.
Kim Donner of Wheatfield had the LASIK procedure done in 2003 with Fichte. "The procedure was quick easy and painless; I've been glasses-free ever since," she said, adding that her husband has since had the procedure done himself and is just as happy as she is with the result.
Fichte Endl & Elmer Eyecare has two Western New York offices. Fichte started the Niagara Falls office, located at 2400 Pine Ave., in Niagara Falls, in the 1980s. The second office, at 2825 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst, opened about 11 years ago. The doctors are local residents - Fichte lives in Youngstown, Elmer on Grand Island and Endl in Amherst.
"We do everything from pediatric eye care to geriatric; from the baby to the grandfather, we take care of everybody," said Kathleen A. Otto, coordinator of marketing and outreach.
