With a lead in ballots greater than the amount of ballots remaining, Assemblyman John D. Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, has declared victory in his re-election campaign in the newly created 145th Assembly District.

"With all absentee ballots counted, the margin between me and my opponent is greater than the affidavit ballots remaining," Ceretto said. "I am excited to officially begin a second term."

"I am grateful and humbled that the voters of the 145th Assembly District have entrusted me with a second term in the Assembly," he added. "It is very encouraging that so many voted for the person, rather than political party. These next two years I will continue my bipartisan efforts, working with leaders from all parties to move our state and our Western New York region forward."

Ceretto is in his first term as a New York state assemblyman. Elected in 2010, he currently represents the 138th Assembly District, which is made up of the towns of Cambria, Hartland, Lewiston, Niagara, Porter, Wheatfield and Wilson and the City of Niagara Falls.

Beginning on Jan. 1, 2013, Ceretto will represent the 145th Assembly District, which is made up of the towns of Cambria, Grand Island, Lewiston, Niagara and Wheatfield, the City of Niagara Falls, and portions of the City of North Tonawanda.
