Assemblyman John Ceretto said Monday that his lead over Bob Restaino in New York's 145th Assembly District race has grown by 147 to 1,052 votes; up from an election night total of 905.

Ceretto's lead grew after all "paper" ballots from the Erie County portion of the 145th Assembly District (Grand Island) were counted. Paper ballots refer to both absentee and affidavit ballots.

"I remain very confident that after all valid ballots are counted, it will confirm my re-election to the State Assembly," Ceretto said.

With Erie County ballot counts final, eyes turn to Niagara County, which will begin opening paper ballots at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Only 2,245 absentee ballots and 911 affidavit ballots remain to be counted.

"I am honored to have earned the trust of so many voters in the 145th Assembly District," Ceretto said. "I am eager to get back to work. While we've made tremendous progress the last two years, (but) difficult work remains."
