The Niagara County Public Information Office issued the following information related to county government functions and the effects of Hurricane Sandy, which is expected to hit Niagara County this evening:

As of 4:45 p.m., the only cancellation by Niagara County government was the Board of Elections machine inspector class.

The Office of County Manager has directed that those non-essential employees whose homes or places of work are in areas where a travel ban may exist should heed those directives and not report to work. Essential county personnel reporting to work under travel ban conditions should provide emergency personnel with their county identification credentials.

Additional closures or cancellations of facilities, agencies, or scheduled events will be disseminated via Niagara County's Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/niagaracounty.
