Lewiston-Porter High School Junior ROTC will be hosting a dinner and basket raffle in honor of all veterans in the Lewiston-Porter area. The dinner will be held Friday, Nov. 9, in the high school cafeteria beginning at 5:30 p.m. A short program will begin at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. The dinner is free for all veterans and a guest and $5 for additional guests.

Special guest that evening will be Theodore "Dutch" Van Kirk, the last living crewmember and navigator on the Enola Gay. Suzanne Simon Dietz, a Lewiston-Porter graduate, author, and Town of Porter historian, who wrote Van Kirk's authorized biography titled "My True Course," will accompany him at the dinner.

Organizers are accepting donations from local businesses to support the dinner and raffle. If any business would like to donate a basket or gift certificate, the contribution will be publicized during the event and all proceeds will be donated to local organizations to assist veterans in need.

To attend the event or to make a donation, contact AFJROTC by Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 716-286-7238 or email [email protected].
