The Town of Grand Island 2013 Reassessment Project is on schedule to be completed in the spring of 2013, according to Town Assessor Judy Tafelski.

The assessor's office and the contractor conducting the assessment - Emminger, Newton, Pigeon & Magyar Inc. - have been working over the summer months collecting inventory on the town's 8,900 parcels; verifying sales of both improved and vacant parcels. Sales verification forms were mailed out when discrepancies were found to property owners. This data collection and the sale verification process is complete and over the months of October, November, December and January the valuation and field review process will take place throughout the town. Islanders can expect to see personnel from ENPM and the assessor's office canvassing the town, reviewing values over the next several months. Property owners can expect to receive their new preliminary assessed values in March 2013. In an effort to keep the property owners informed as to what information they will receive in March 2013, a public meeting will take place in February at the Grand Island Town Hall. More details as to the date and time of the public informational meeting will be forthcoming in January 2013.

If any resident or business owner has any questions on the project they may call the Grand Island Project Hotline at 716-712-5550.
