The New York Power Authority will hold its annual "Halloween Spooktacular" on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the admission-free Power Vista, the visitors center for the Niagara Power Project, at 5777 Lewiston Road, Lewiston.

Children ages newborn to 15 are encouraged to come in costume and participate in a costume contest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Costumes will be judged based on originality, creativity and overall appearance. First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded in three separate age groups: newborn to 5 years old; 6 to 10 years old and 11 to 15 years old. Prizes for the contest will be awarded at 2:30 p.m.

The Niagara Police Athletic League will be on site with a variety of spooky games. Crafts will be provided by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. The Lockport YMCA's Teen Leaders Group will host a haunted house. Free hay rides will be offered around the Power Vista traffic circle.

During the event, enjoy free rides on the Niagara Scenic Trolley between the Gorge Discovery Center and the Niagara Power Project, courtesy of the OPRHP.

In addition to "Halloween Spooktacular" fun, visitors are invited to enjoy the Power Vista's attractions, which include displays and interactive exhibits relating to the production of electricity, energy efficiency and the area's history, as well as views from the observation deck 350 feet above the Niagara River Gorge. Parking and admission at the Power Vista is always free.
