Maid of the Mist goes 'pink' in support of breast cancer awareness

Maid of the Mist patrons will sport pink ponchos the weekend of Oct. 19-21, part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

"In some way, everyone has been touched by breast cancer," said James V. Glynn, chairman and CEO of the Maid of the Mist Corp. "We're happy to do our part to increase awareness about breast cancer and support efforts to develop a cure for this disease."

Throughout the weekend, the familiar blue ponchos that are given to every rider on the Maid of the Mist will give way to pink ponchos, featuring the Maid of the Mist logo and the breast cancer awareness logo. This will be the first time pink ponchos will be used.
On the evening of Oct. 19, Niagara Fall will be illuminated in pink light, in support of breast cancer awareness.

Maid of the Mist boats cruise the base of the American Falls and the basin of the commanding Horseshoe Falls, embarking from the U.S. and Canadian sides of Niagara Falls. Since 1846, when the first boat was a wooden-hulled, coal-fired steamboat, the fleet has ferried adventurous presidents, kings, film stars and millions of tourists through the swirling currents.
