Free breast cancer screening offered

In recognition of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Cancer Services Program of Niagara County, in collaboration with hospitals throughout the county, will offer free breast cancer screening for uninsured women age 40 to 64 years.

Managed by the Niagara County Department of Health, CSP provides an array of cancer services to uninsured adults, such as no-cost mammograms and pap tests to women age 40 to 64, and free colon cancer screening to men and women age 50 to 64 years.

The free breast cancer screening events in October are by appointment only. Dates, times and locations include the following:

•Saturday, Oct. 13, 8 a.m. to noon, DeGraff Memorial Hospital, 445 Tremont St., North Tonawanda.

•Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1 to 4 p.m., Eastern Niagara Hospital, 2600 William St., Newfane.

•Saturday, Oct. 20, 8 a.m. to noon, Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center, 5300 Military Road, Lewiston.

•Saturday, Oct. 27, 9 a.m. to noon, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Summit Healthplex, 6934 Williams Road, Wheatfield.

Uninsured women wishing to schedule appointments for screening at one of these locations should call CSP at 716-278-8285.
