New York State Police reports the Prescription Drop Box Program has proven to be a success since it began this past June.

Dozens of prescription medications have been turned in on a weekly basis through the anonymous drop box located in the foyer at State Police Troop A Headquarters, 4525 West Saile Drive in Batavia. The number of medications turned in continues to grow from week to week.

This self-service medication drop box allows the public to safely and anonymously dispose of unwanted or unused medications. "By disposing of them in this safe manner, we keep them out of the hands of abusers, who may choose to use or sell to others for unintended use," said Troop Commander, Maj. Christopher L. Cummings.

If you or someone you know has prescription drugs that need to be disposed of, you may simply come to the State Police Barracks in Batavia, located at 4525 West Saile Drive and place it in the drop box, no questions asked. For further information, call 1-585-344-6200.
