St. Johnsburg Fire Co. Inc. will host its Fire Prevention Open House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday Oct. 13, at its firehall, 7165 Ward Road (corner of Krueger Road) in Wheatfield.
Equipment will be on display, as well as displays and information pertaining to emergency preparedness. An auto extrication demonstration will be at 2 p.m. Additionally, the Niagara County Sheriff's Department will conduct child safety seat checks; Tri-Community Ambulance will provide EMS displays and free blood pressure screenings; and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms as well as all Wheatfield fire companies will be taking part. A Mercy Flight landing will occur in the afternoon, depending on weather and availability.
Free hot dogs and hamburgers will be served.
Each year, fire departments across the United States take part in Fire Prevention Week, aimed at educating all ages about the importance of fire safety, prevention and preparedness. This year's message from the National Fire Protection Association is "Have Two Ways Out."
