•A benefit for the children of Loretta Jo Gates will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Sheraton at the Falls, 300 Third St., Niagara Falls.
Gates, a 30-year-old mother of three, was murdered and her dismembered body was found in the lower Niagara River on Wednesday, Aug. 29.
Funds raised will help with funeral expenses and start a trust fund for her children, ages 11, 5 and 4.
Dinner will be served from 2 to 5 p.m., and the basket drawing will be at 5:30 p.m. The event also will feature live entertainment by A-List and DJ, a large-ticket item drawing and a 50/50 split.
A $20 donation includes dinner, drink, dessert and one sheet of auction tickets.
Donations also can be dropped off at any KeyBank location with checks payable to the Loretta Jo Gates Memorial Fund.
