With its first chicken barbecue fundraiser last Saturday, Island Presbyterian Church hoped to provide not just tasty Krolick's chicken, but food for the soul too.

The event was put on by the Outreach and Fellowship Committee at Island Presbyterian Church. Organizers offered the dinner to raise money for church improvements and in the long run to increase membership in the Huth Road church.

"We're trying to get the public to come in to our church and possibly join us and enlarge our congregation," said Janet Webb, chair of the Outreach and Fellowship Committee.

About 320 dinners were sold.

"It is going so well that I think we're going to make it an annual event," Webb added.

Among the volunteers at the dinner were the church's little old pie ladies, students from Grand Island High School (such as Bri McGuire, pictured) and Girls Scouts.
