(Grassroots Newswire) In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, dressbarn is announcing a new campaign designed to create awareness through community involvement, inviting everyone to help "Paint the Country Pink."

Launching Oct. 1, the www.PaintTheCountryPink.com website will feature a map of the country where visitors can show their community support for everyone affected by breast cancer by virtually swiping a paintbrush over their location on the map. This simple action adds to the count for that state and the state will literally become "pinker" on the map. The "pinker" the country gets, the clearer the message to those fighting this disease: You are not alone - we will fight by your side every step of the way.

dressbarn is also joining the fight to help end this disease by donating $1 to the American Cancer Society for every person who paints the country pink (up to $100,000 in total).

The face of "Paint the Country Pink" is a little puppy named Ruby. In addition to digging and playing fetch (two of her favorite activities), Ruby is also good at warming hearts wherever she goes. Ruby is a symbol of unconditional love and support and will be available for adoption in every dressbarn store, including those in the Western New York community and on www.dressbarn.com, starting Oct. 1 (while supplies last). You can take her home for just $6, and the entire net profit (of at least $2.50) will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

"Breast cancer is a cause that is very close to our hearts at dressbarn, because it affects so many women and their families," said Veronica Valladares, assistant vice president of marketing at dressbarn. "As part of our mission to inspire all women to look and feel beautiful, we have developed this easy and user-friendly program that helps make a difference for women affected by breast cancer. We encourage everyone to 'Paint the Country Pink' to help raise awareness and show their support."

dressbarn has been a long-time supporter of breast cancer awareness initiatives, and has an ongoing relationship with the American Cancer Society. To date, dressbarn and its sister-brand, maurices, have donated more than $8 million to the fight against cancer.
