On Saturday, Sept. 8, the Niagara Wheatfield Amateur Athletics Tomcats started their regular season off with a 40-0 win over the North Tonawanda 49ers.
The Tomcats were led by Jordan Parks with two touchdowns, one rushing and the other one on a 35-yard punt return. Zach Stanley, Jamel Oliver, Justin McDougald and Tristen Vandenberg all scored touchdowns for the Tomcats and Jake DeWolf scored all three extra points.
The Tomcats rushed for 235 yards and the Tomcats defense only gave up 10 yards rushing. Kevin Halford led the defense with three tackles and one sack. Jamel Oliver chipped in with two tackles and six assists, two for a loss. Tristen Vandenberg had two tackles two for losses and forced a fumble. Kenrda Cheers, Donavan Brusino Chris Gordan Jacob Story, Thomas Peltier, Griffin Cornwell and Warren McDougald all had two tackles each and Justin McDougald had the fumble recovery and a sack.
