HEALTHeLINK welcomes Mount St. Mary's Hospital practicesby jmaloni
They join Western New York's clinical information exchange
Nearly 400 medical practices throughout the eight counties of Western New York have joined HEALTHeLINK, utilizing health information technology for secure access to their patients' medical information immediately at the point of care. The Center for Women at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston and the hospital's Neighborhood Health Center in Niagara Falls are the latest practices to join HEALTHeLINK.
HEALTHeLINK is a collaborative effort among Western New York hospital systems, health plans, physician practices, and other health care organizations to share and access clinical information about their patients in efficient ways to improve the delivery of care, enhance outcomes, and help control health care costs through the reduction of duplicate tests and medication errors. Through HEALTHeLINK, a physician has immediate electronic access to patient data, including lab and radiology reports, prescriptions, and more.
Patients allow physicians and other authorized clinical professionals to access their health information by signing a consent form. More than 400,000 Western New Yorkers have already given their health care providers better access to the information they need by completing a consent form. Those interested can ask for a HEALTHeLINK consent form at their doctor's office or download one today at www.wnyhealthelink.com.
The not-for-profit organization was established through funding from BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, The Catholic Health System, Erie County Medical Center Corporation, Independent Health Association, Kaleida Health, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Univera Healthcare and the Health Care Efficiency and Affordability Law for New Yorkers Capital Grant Program (HEAL NY) from New York state. HEALTHeLINK also received one of the country's largest awards as part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Beacon Community Cooperative Agreement Program.
HEALTHeLINK stakeholders include a broad representation of health care professionals and organizations throughout the eight-county Western New York region, such as the State University of New York at Buffalo, P2 Collaborative, Chautauqua County Health Network, the WNY Rural Area Health Education Center, and local county public health departments.
