State Sen. Mark Grisanti, R-North Buffalo, announced Monday that the Buffalo Niagara Partnership has endorsed his bid for re-election to represent the people of the 60th District in the New York State Senate. The Buffalo Niagara Partnership hosted a press event (with the Executive Director of Unshackle Upstate Brian Sampson; Andrew Rudnick, president and CEO of the partnership; and Mike Durant of the New York State Director of National Federation of Independent Business) to announce that Grisanti is the best candidate the business community can hope to see in this seat.

In endorsing Grisanti, the partnership highlighted his work to see the passage and implementation of the University at Buffalo 2020 plan, fighting for the continued funding of Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and lobbying for the Peace Bridge expansion project. Additionally, Grisanti was applauded for his work to pass legislation that ensures the entities located within 30 miles of the Niagara Power Project receive monetary compensation; legislation that creates a 20 percent tax credit for asbestos remediation in construction; legislation that makes the brownfield program permanent; legislation that expands the historic preservation tax credit program; and for working with the Department of Environmental Conservation to reduce the overly burdensome ballast water regulations.

"I am grateful for the endorsement of the partnership as it demonstrates a shared commitment to strengthening the Western New York economy and creating local jobs," Grisanti said. "Over the past two years, I have worked tirelessly to find ways to help small businesses grow, return people to work and ease the burdensome regulations placed on businesses of all sizes. I am proud to have ushered in two on-time state budgets that kept the 2-percent property tax cap and held the line on spending, including pension reform. If I am honored to continue to represent the people of the 60th District, I will continue to support legislation that ease the challenges confronting businesses and taxpayers."

The Buffalo Niagara Partnership includes nearly 2,500 employer members who work for improved business competitiveness and expanded economic activity in the region. The partnership also advocates at the local, state and federal level for policies and resources to increase private sector investment and jobs.

"Mark Grisanti is a friend to the business community and has demonstrated this time and time again. Throughout the course of his first term, he has taken the hard stand on issues that affect the climate of business in our region. The citizens of the 60th District have someone who will fight to keep taxes low, return jobs to our region and prevent downstate from benefiting from our natural water sources. I am pleased to announce the Buffalo Niagara Partnership's support of Mark Grisanti for re-election to the New York State Senate," Rudnick said.

Grisanti received the high score of 88 percent on the Unshackle Upstate Legislative Scorecard for the 2012 legislative session. Grisanti had the second best record in the Senate for the local Western New York delegation in support of budget votes, legislative votes and bill sponsorship with a focus on reducing taxes, cutting state spending, reducing state borrowing and curtailing mandates.

"Unshackle Upstate is pleased to endorse Mark Grisanti," Sampson said. "As is demonstrated by his solid 88 percent voting record in the 2012 legislative session, he continually thinks about New York taxpayers and employers when voting for legislation. If our local economy is to have a future of economic vitality, we need to re-elect mark Grisanti to the New York State Senate."
