Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Sept. 6, 2012

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police Department between Aug. 20 and 30. During that period the department answered 234 calls.

Monday, Aug. 20

•Route I-190 near Porter Road, accident. A vehicle's exhaust system came loose and parts fell off and struck the vehicle behind.

•700 block of A Street, assault. Patrol observed a 17-year-old male with several outstanding warrants in a group of youths. When stopped, he threw a can of alcohol at the officer and fled. When captured, he was vulgar and threatening to officers and repeatedly banged his face into the metal bars between the patrol car's seats and its window. He also damaged a wall at Town Hall.

Tuesday, Aug. 21

•1900 block of Juron Drive, dog bite. Woman reports being bitten in the ankle by a poodle while doing door-to-door sales.

•7400 block of Porter Road, missing persons. Woman reported she had an argument with her two daughters around midnight and when she got up about 5 a.m. her daughters and a girl who had been sleeping over were missing.

Wednesday, Aug. 22

•500 block of D Street, attempt to locate. Officer responded to look for a 14-year-old male who ran away from Child Protective Services. Youth found and returned.

•Fashion Outlet Boulevard, accident. Driver reported striking a deer. The deer ran off. The car was towed.

Thursday, Aug. 23

•4200 block of Military Road, property complaint. Grocery store management requested a check on Pomeroy Avenue for numerous stolen shopping carts.

•6000 block of Porter Road, emergency medical services. Employee cut himself with box-cutter. He was transported to Erie County Medical Center by Rural Metro Ambulance.

Friday, Aug. 24

•7600 block of Third Avenue, larceny. Business reported that on Aug. 22, someone stole 10 pairs of Gucci glasses and eight pairs of Versace glasses valued at $2,500.

•2400 block of Military Road, juvenile problem. Advised of a planned fight posted on Facebook, patrol located four males behind a building, checked them for weapons and advised them to leave the area. Another group of four males arrived and also were advised to leave.

Saturday, Aug. 25

•Sunnyside Drive, juvenile problem. Juveniles riding mini-bikes up and down the street at a high rate of speed.

•1900 block of Military Road, larceny. A woman was arrested for shoplifting at three separate stores at the mall.

Sunday, Aug. 26

•4600 block of Miller Road, EMS. Patrol assisted an 87-year-old woman with a severe nose bleed. She was taken to Mount St. Mary's Hospital by Rural/Metro ambulance.

•2700 block of Military Road, larceny. Business reported someone broke in and took $250 in cash and a handheld television monitor, damaging a door and breaking a hasp on a window and two desk drawers.

Monday, Aug. 27

•4700 block of Pomeroy Avenue, burglary. Victim states someone entered his residence on the afternoon of Aug. 25 and took a pill bottle containing about 180 hydrocodone pills.

Tuesday, Aug. 28

•Porter Road, accident. Driver making a left turn into shopping area was struck by oncoming driver. Collision caused the turning driver's vehicle to roll over.

•4200 block of Military Road, larceny. A Saunders Settlement Road woman reported she went into a business to return bottles and forgot her purse in the cart when she left. When she returned, the brown leather purse, containing $50 cash, license, credit card, cell phone and some gold jewelry, was missing.

Wednesday, Aug. 29

•1900 block of Military Road, harassment. Woman complained that when she pulled into a parking spot an elderly male in the next spot started screaming at her for no reason. Patrol interviewed the man, who said the females in the other car started the altercation and the driver almost struck his vehicle.

•500 block of B Street, neighbor problem. Patrol spoke with a woman who said she felt she was being harassed because her neighbor has called the police on her a couple of times recently. Patrol notes ongoing issues between the two women.

Thursday, Aug. 30

•3000 block of Lincoln Street, prowler. Complainant said she woke up to go to the bathroom and saw a face looking into her window. She ran out of the house and chased a male across the street and into the woods, but lost track of him.

•3100 block of Woodland Avenue, neighbor problem. Patrol called on open burn/loud party complaint. Couple was advised of temporary state ban on open fires, and fire was put out. Patrol returned to scene after complainants called again to report the man and woman who had the fire violated order of protection to yell and scream at them. Criminal contempt and harassment charges were requested.
