Susan Zinter and Sheila Daminski have joined their unique and knowledgeable backgrounds and decided now was the time to go into business together. On Thursday, Aug. 30, the two owners and partners held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Grand Island town officials and members of the board of directors from the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the opening of the Soma Cura Wellness Center located at 2710 Grand Island Blvd.

The Soma Cura Wellness Center has much to offer to the community. They provide many modalities of health and fitness, all designed to allow mind, body and spirit to heal and grow. Zinter has worked in the medical and health/fitness industry much of her life. She is a specialist in medical massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and general Swedish massage. As a yoga student over the last 15 years, Zinter has found her love of teaching, coupled with her ongoing training in the field of wheelchair, medical, restorative and hatha yoga. Different yoga classes for all skill levels will be offered as well as private instruction or family classes. Massage treatments given by a highly experienced and trained therapist in therapeutic and relaxation massage are also available.

One can receive Reiki treatments at Soma Cura. Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique of stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. Reiki helps to harmonize body, mind and spirit. The energy flows wherever it is required and can normally be felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body, and a feeling of deep relaxation and peace. Naturopathic medicine is based on the belief that the human body has an innate healing ability. Daminski is a naturopathic doctor and will teach patients to use nutrition and lifestyle changes and natural therapies to enhance their bodies' ability to combat disease and increase health. Daminski believes in treating the whole person, saying, "We each have a unique physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, social, sexual and spiritual makeup. The naturopathic doctor knows that all these factors affect our health. That's why he or she includes them in a carefully tailored treatment strategy."

The Soma Cura Wellness Center staff would like to invite the public to attend their grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free mini yoga, tai chi and qi gong classes will be offered along with free massage and Reiki samples. People can also sample free herbal tea and healthy foods while at the open house.
