Grand Island Fire Co. Chief Kevin Koch reports that several Grand Island firefighters recently completed a special school bus extrication course, which better prepared responders facing a mass casualty incident involving children and their support staff - drivers, monitors, etc.

He noted that the Grand Island Central School District generously donated a bus for hands-on training at the Sheridan Park Volunteer Fire Department, where approximately 30 Western New York volunteers learned technical aspects of unique school bus construction, escape mechanisms, etc.

Jeremiah Anderson, Jon Cinelli, Tim Krecisz, John Podlucky and Mark Sadkowski successfully completed this two-day program on Aug. 1

Congratulations to these GIFC volunteers, who chose to set aside their personal lives to further expand individual as well as fire company capabilities.
