Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Aug. 30, 2012

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between Aug. 12 and 19.

Sunday, Aug. 12

•1600 block of Military Road, larceny. Female accompanied by two children was observed shoplifting items valued at $238. She dropped the bag of items in the parking lot and fled on foot.

•Military Road, Porter Road, Packard Road, Lockport Road, traffic tickets. Patrol issued nine tickets for various offenses, including failure to wear seatbelt, driving without headlights, a failure to show valid proof of insurance, speeding and improper passing.

•8100 block of Crestview Drive, domestic. A 39-year-old woman was arrested after she called to report her husband was trying to kill her. Patrol found the husband at a neighbor's house with injuries on his face. He said when he got home from work his intoxicated wife demanded he give her money to go to the casino and attacked him when he refused.

Monday, Aug. 13

•4700 block of Military Road, vandalism. Complainant reported all four tires on her vehicle were slashed overnight.

•1500 block of Military Road, EMS call. A 3-year-old male struck his head on a fire hydrant.

•B Street, accident. Driver reported that as he was approaching a stop sign, he dropped a lit cigarette in his lap, veered out of the lane and struck the sign.

Tuesday, Aug. 14

•2500 block of Military Road, stolen vehicle. Complainant reported someone stole her 2007 Cadillac while it was parked in a business lot.

•Porter Road, driving while intoxicated. A 59-year-old D Street man with a prior DWI conviction was arrested for felony DWI.

Wednesday, Aug. 15

•1300 block of Niagara Street, aid assist. Patrol assisted Niagara Falls Police with a call on two suspects fleeing an attempted burglary who had fired shots at off-duty officers on the scene investigating an alarm.

•1600 block of Military Road, larceny. Business reported two males entered the store and stole a stack of black T-shirts valued at $160.

Thursday, Aug. 16

•700 block of A Street, mental health. Woman said she was depressed, had taken 40 to 50 pills and wanted to kill herself.

•6700 block of Packard Road, check situation. Employee at a business said someone stole $72 and a prescription bottle of pills from his unlocked vehicle, which was parked out of view of security cameras.

Friday, Aug. 17

•3200 block of Bellreng Drive and 4700 block of Garlow Road, noise. Patrol responded to two loud party complaints.

•8200 block of Colonial Drive, property damage. Complainant reported he heard a loud crash in front of his home and discovered his mailbox and newspaper box had been knocked down. Several pieces of what appeared to be the front bumper of a white vehicle were found on the ground.

Saturday, Aug. 18

•Lockport and Military roads, juvenile problem. Patrol was dispatched for a report of 12 juveniles in the roadway refusing to move for traffic.

•1900 Military Road, larceny. Complainant reported items valued at $2,650 were taken from her vehicle in the mall parking lot by someone who punched open the door lock of her vehicle.

Sunday, Aug. 19

•Tuscarora Road, road obstruction. Report received of an unknown substance placed across the roadway. Patrol found discarded clamshells.

•4700 block of Garlow Road, check situation. Neighbor reported a 4-year-old boy wandering down the road. Patrol interviewed the grandmother who said her grandson ran away from her and she could not catch him.
