Head coach Kevin Miller has announced the addition of two players to the Niagara University men's golf team for the 2012-13 season as Jackson Lizardo and William Lumadue join the squad.

Lumadue joins the team after being a multi-sport athlete at Niagara-Wheatfield High School. He played five years on the varsity golf team, two years of junior varsity baseball, two years on the junior varsity hockey team, and one year on the varsity hockey team. He made the All-Niagara Frontier league second team for golf in both 2011 and 2012. In 2010, he qualified for the sectional tournament and made the All-NFL first team. Lumadue's success wasn't limited to sports. He succeeded in the classroom, placing on the honor roll all four years at Niagara-Wheatfield and graduating with advanced regents with honors.

"Billy is also a player that could fit nicely into our starting rotation," said Miller. "He is a consistent player that will have an easy transition from high school to college golf."

Lizardo, from Fairfax, Va., comes to Monteagle Ridge after placing third out of 71 players in the 14-18 years old division in the Capital Area Golf Tour Maryland and Northern Virginia in 2011-12 as a 17-year-old. In 2010-11 he was named Player of the Year in the CAGT after taking the top spot in the 16-18 division. Lizardo has found international success as well, placing third in the Eastern Canadian Junior Championship in 2010.

"Jackson comes to Niagara with a ton of experience playing in local, national and international tournaments," Miller said. "He is the kind of player that should have immediate impact on our team. He is very competitive and gives his all."

Niagara begins play with the Little Three Tournament in Orchard Park on Saturday, Sept. 15.
