John and Hope Comerford, formerly of Lewiston, now of Buffalo, will be the featured honorees at the 13th annual "Good Works Gala" of the Mount St. Mary's Foundation. The black-tie gala, with a theme of "An Evening in Paris," will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Niagara Falls Country Club, 505 Mountain View Drive in Lewiston.

The proceeds raised from this year's event will benefit the creation and modernization of the Center for Women at Mount St. Mary's Hospital & Health Center. In the past year, great progress has been made in completely transforming the second floor by modernizing the space to create a one-stop shop for all of a woman's health care needs.

Gala chairs are Vincenette and David SanLorenzo of Grand Island. Alan Elia Jr. will serve as co-chairman. More than 400 guests from the community are expected to attend the event, which features a silent auction, cocktails, dinner and dancing.

John Comerford grew up in Lewiston and returned to Western New York after graduating from Cornell University to attend SUNY at Buffalo Law School. He is a partner with Lipsitz & Ponterio LLC in Buffalo, and was named a "Super Lawyer" by Thomson Reuters in 2011 and 2012. John and his wife, Hope, have five children.

"The Comerford family has been strong supporters of Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center over the last thirty years," said Charles Lytle II, chairman, Mount St. Mary's Foundation board of directors. "Dr. Thomas E. Comerford Jr. was a respected member of our medical staff and a treasured family physician. John and Hope continue his legacy through their generosity and we honor them for their sense of compassion and community."
