Assemblyman John Ceretto has received the endorsement of the New York State United Teachers in his bid for re-election to the State Assembly. Earlier this year, NYSUT, a grassroots group representing more than 1,200 local teachers unions, praised Ceretto as a "hero" who voted to "defend educators across the state."

"It is nice to be recognized for the work I have been doing on behalf of the residents in my district and to receive special praise for helping to enhance the quality of education in New York state," Ceretto said. "As a former educator, I am extremely proud of the work I have been doing to strengthen our state's education system, and I look forward to working with Governor Cuomo and my colleagues to provide New York students with a world-class education for years to come."

"I have known for a long time that Assemblyman John Ceretto supported teachers and middle-class workers," said Carmine Bianco, a Niagara Falls School District teacher. "It is great to know the teachers union supports my assemblyman."

In addition to the New York State United Teachers, Ceretto has been endorsed by State Sen. George Maziarz, the state Professional Firefighters Association, Laborers Local 91, the Niagara County Republican Committee, 2010 gubernatorial nominee Carl Paladino and Town of Lewiston Councilman Al Bax.

The newly formed 145th Assembly District is made up of the towns of Cambria, Lewiston, Niagara, Wheatfield, the City of Niagara Falls and a portion of the City of North Tonawanda in Niagara County, and the Town of Grand Island in Erie County.
