(readMedia) The New York National Guard Counterdrug Task Force, in conjunction with the Old Orchard Estates Block Club, will provide a drug prevention program and climbing wall for children in North Tonawanda, from noon to 8 p.m. on Aug. 18.
The four-member soldier and airman team will offer a drug-prevention pitch and "Rockwall Challenge" climbing session to approximately 400 people.
The "Rockwall Challenge" is a unique constructive learning opportunity for youth ages 8 to 17 years old. The children will get a talk on setting goals, meeting life's challenges and establishing healthy choices. Students then use these concepts while climbing the wall.
The "Block Party" will be held at 6708 Cortland Dr.
