The following is a sampling of calls answered by the Town of Niagara Police between July 19 and 26. A total of 170 calls were received during this period.
Thursday, July 19
•4700 block of Tuscarora Road, domestic. Husband asked to have his wife arrested for assault, third-degree, for assaulting him in front of his kids. She said she had just found out he was having an affair on Facebook with another woman who lived down the street. He said he did it because she was having an affair with another man.
•2000 block of Tuscarora Road, suspicious person. Caller reported three juveniles at the side of his house, possibly having sex.
•8200 block of Ziblut Court, vandalism. Caller reported juveniles believed responsible for vandalism the previous night were back in the area.
Friday, July 20
•3000 block of Lincoln St., domestic. Appearance tickets were issued to both a 51-year-old mother and a 33-year-old daughter after a physical altercation.
•2400 block of Military Road, larceny. An Ontario woman reported her purse was stolen from her shopping cart as she was walking from a business to the parking lot, when she stopped to look at some bicycles outside the store.
Saturday, July 21
•1900 block of Military Road, arrest. Patrol responded to a shoplifter in custody call at the mall and found that the 21-year-old Forest Avenue man already had active bench warrants out of both Town of Niagara and Niagara Falls.
•5100 block of Sweet Home Road, fireworks complaint. Patrol advised parties not to launch any more fireworks.
Sunday, July 22
•4500 block of Liberty Avenue, EMS call. Patrol assisted Rural Metro Ambulance with a highly intoxicated man who fell and hit his head, became combative and fled on foot, returned home, became combative and vulgarly abusive again and fled again.
•200 block of Beckwith Avenue, vandalism. Complainant reported someone slashed a tire on his work vehicle parked outside his house during the night. Surveillance camera showed a dark vehicle, possibly a Grand Prix.
•4200 block of Military Road, shoplifting. Business reported a man placed about $100 worth of groceries in several bags and left without paying.
Monday, July 23
•3000 block of Military Road, suspicious person. Caller reported a man wearing a camouflage backpack carrying an apparent detonation device. Patrol found a U.S. Marine exercising while carrying weights.
•Military Road and Saunders Settlement Road, traffic tickets. Patrol observed a driver disobey a flag person directing traffic where Mercy Flight was trying to land by cutting through a gas station. Driver was argumentative and confrontational.
Tuesday, July 24
•Porter Road, civil matter. Complainant said a driveway sealer truck in front of him leaked and splashed droplets on his truck's front end. Patrol assisted parties with exchanging information and staying civil.
•South Whitham Drive, Military Road, Packard Road, Porter Road, Tuscarora Road, Witmer Road, traffic tickets. Patrol issued tickets for various offenses, including failure to wear a seatbelt, talking on a cell phone, revoked registration and speeding.
Wednesday, July 25
•2400 block of Military Road, vandalism. Business reported someone tampered with two conduit boxes providing power to the building.
•1900 block of Military Road, shoplifting. Patrol arrested two 16-year-old Buffalo women for concealing clothing in large handbags at a mall store. In another incident at a different store, a 20-year-old woman and 18-year-old woman were arrested for concealing children's clothing in a baby's stroller.
Thursday, July 26
•I-190, animal complaint. Numerous reports received of two dogs running on I-190. Patrol, State Police and SPCA secured dogs on Packard Road.
•2400 block of Military Road, shoplifting. Business reported a man stuffed his clothing with items and left the store. Patrol stopped a vehicle pulling out onto Military Road and recovered 13 packages of bacon and three pairs of socks. A 50-year-old Seneca Avenue man was arrested.
