Assemblyman John D. Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, sent a letter Tuesday to members of the Niagara County Legislature's community services committee, calling on them to protect important senior services.
In the letter, Ceretto urged the committee members to vote in favor of keeping open three local senior-meal sites that have been slated for possible closure. The committee is scheduled to vote on fate of the meal sites this week.
"While I appreciate efforts to save taxpayer dollars, it is my hope that these facilities can remain open and be utilized by our area seniors, at least until further study can be conducted," Ceretto said. "In speaking with residents from across my district, I can tell you that this meal program has wide appeal among our seniors and has been expertly handled under the auspices of the Office of Aging and the Community Services Committee of the Niagara County Legislature."
