Remarks from Robert Krause, Niagara Falls City Republican Committee chairman:

"Two years ago, this committee broke the tradition of following the Niagara County Republican Committee rules, and endorsed Carl Paladino for governor.

"It was not until the county Republicans saw the outpour of support for Carl Paladino that they did change their minds and, finally admitting they were wrong, changed their endorsement.

"Today (Monday), once again, the City of Niagara Falls Republican Executive Committee is going against the county committee's endorsed candidate - Sen. George Maziarz.

"We are listening to the voters. They are all saying the same thing: Unemployment is too high; taxes are too high; our power and energy costs are going through the roof. And, they are asking this question: Why are we sending all of our resources to New York City through Albany? These voters are once again saying the same thing: Maybe it is time for a change.

"As the chairman of this committee, and a member of the City of Niagara Falls Republican executive committee, we follow these state Republican principles for choosing candidates: Lower taxes and smaller government. I would like to say this about Johnny Destino: He stands up for these principles of lower taxes and smaller government."
