The Niagara County History Center has announced the return of Lockport Old Home Week scheduled for July 21 to 28.

Several events will highlight the week, along with open houses hosted at businesses, churches, or and local landmarks. The week will kick off on Saturday, July 21, with the first week of Lockport Community Market on Historic Canal Street and end in lower town with the Lockport Duck Race and an afternoon of entertainment.

The "Step Back in Time Players" historical re-enactors will offer presentations at Lockport's Historic Palace Theatre on Tuesday, July 24, as well as a Trolley Tour on Thursday, July 26. The Players will have re-enactors at the Lockport Community Market on both Saturdays of the weeklong celebration. The Palace event is free of charge, but a ticket will be required. Tickets are available at the Palace Theatre box office, Mills Jewelers, The Lockport Library, The Erie Canal Discovery Center/Penney Gallery, and the Niagara County History Center.

This year's Lockport Duck Race will benefit the Penney Resource Center in the Erie Canal Discovery Center. The Duck Race will consist of two races run simultaneously, with the plastic ducks flying (or being dumped) into the canal near Adam Street. Prizes for children will be awarded to the purchasers of the first five yellow ducks to cross the finish line and adult prizes will be awarded for the first five pink or blue ducks to finish. A donation of $5 for each pink or blue duck or $3 for each yellow duck gets you entered. For more information, visit www.lockportduckraces.com.
