Ziggy has the power

On a perfect night in Lewiston under a sunset sky, Ziggy Marley took the Artpark stage, wearing Levi's and a white T-shirt with his signature dreadlocks down below his knees. As he plugged in his favorite guitar, the nine-piece band began to play with true Reggae bliss.

Opening the set with "Let Ja Will," you could feel the journey begin. With a huge crowd on hand, Ziggy played "Revolution," as his female singers' support was flawless and a dance exhibition of the culture in which the music was inspired. The drums were tight and crisp, a trio of keyboards pounded the keys and the bass guitar not only swatted the strings, but some bugs, as well.

The lead guitar solos kept the funk at a level some musicians only dream of. Then "Jammin' " started and the crowd joined in and sang every chance Ziggy gave us. The vibe at Artpark was like no other night felt before, as Ziggy smiled with delight. All I wanted to hear was "Could U B Love," and, of course, Marley did not disappoint. This is from a fan that grew up with Marley music.

Thank you for a great performance! As I went to bed, I had "Reggae in My Head." (photo and review by Don Felice)
