Old Falls Street releases 2012 schedule of events

Features daily activities Memorial Day through Labor Day

Old Falls Street, USA, the historic three-block destination in downtown Niagara Falls, has released its schedule of events for summer 2012. The season promises daily activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Memorial Day through Labor Day, as well as "Food, Festivals and Fun ... Just Footsteps from Niagara Falls!"

"Old Falls Street, USA, is proud to host consistent daily activities everyday throughout the busy summer season as we welcome both Western New York residents and visitors to our downtown Niagara Falls area," said Global Spectrum's Ryan Coate, general manager of Old Falls Street and the Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls. "We encourage everyone to spend an afternoon on our dynamic street for a delectable meal, great music and much more."

In addition to daily activities, Old Falls Street will offer a variety of family-friendly weekly activities beginning the last Friday in June, and other special events throughout the summer. All activities and events offer free admission.

2012 DAILY ACTIVITIES(Memorial Day through Labor Day, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.):

·FOOD & BEVERAGE VENDING offering a variety of traditional and regional lunchtime favorites and weekly changes to the menu. This year, Old Falls Street's vending carts will be placed on the middle block and are complimented by ample tables, chairs and shade sails for a more comfortable lunch setting.

·RIDE NIAGARA BIKE RENTALS providing equipment and supplies to make a self-guided bicycle tour through the area fun, safe and memorable. Ride Niagara bicycles will be available for rent on the park block closest to the entrance of Niagara Falls State Park.

·TUNES AT NOON provides live music by the area's finest local musicians, each afternoon from noon until 2 p.m. Tunes at Noon is presented on the middle block and compliments lunchtime vending.

2012 WEEKLY ACTIVITIES (beginning at the end of June and running through August):

·FITNESS ON OLD FALLS - Complimentary sessions of Zumba and Pilates given by instructors from ChrisFit in Niagara Falls. Sessions are held each Monday and Wednesday in July and August, beginning at 5:15 p.m., on Old Falls Street's middle block.

·OLD FALLS STREET KIDS' CLUB - These free children's workshops feature educational games, physical activities, science and nature projects, arts and crafts, interactive theater and much more. Workshops are held each Tuesday and Wednesday in July and August, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Old Falls Street's middle block.

·FLICKS ON OLD FALLS - Sponsored by KeyBank, this open-air theater features free classic and contemporary movies under the stars. Come early and enjoy live theatrical performances by Deep Roots Niagara. Movies are presented each Thursday in July and August, beginning at approximately 9 p.m., on Old Falls Street's middle block. ·FRIDAYS ON OLD FALLS CONCERT SERIES - Sponsored by Legends Bar & Grill, this concert series features the area's finest classic rock and dance bands, each Friday from June 29 to Aug. 31, from 7 to 10 p.m. Make sure to stay until 10 p.m. when fireworks are launched over Niagara Falls. ·HARD ROCK ROCKS OLD FALLS STREET CONCERT SERIES - The six-week series remains free and features internationally known musicians, the area's finest opening acts, interactive performances by Deep Roots Niagara, and autographed guitar raffle to benefit the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center, as well as food and beverage concessions. Concerts are held each Saturday, July 7 through Aug. 11, beginning at 6 p.m., on Old Falls Street's park block. For a list of bands, visitwww.FallsStreet.com.

OLD FALLS STREET'S 2012 SPECIAL EVENTS:

·WNY SOUND SMASH - Saturday, May 26, from 1 to 7 p.m.

A free collaborative concert with Music Culture 716, featuring the sounds of the Buffalo Gay Men's Chorus, the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus, The Colored Musicians Club, Music Is Art, and the WNY Blues Society. Purchase a ticket to participate in beer and wine tastings hosted by The Results Group. The Niagara Frontier Plein Air Painters will also be on hand for this event.

·TOUCH-A-TRUCK - Saturday afternoon, Aug. 11

Climb into a fire truck, emergency vehicles, maintenance vehicles and other larger-than-life trucks to see how first-responders and street technicians spend their days. Family activities will also be featured.

·CRASH FEST - Saturday evening, Sept. 15

Join members of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association for this street concert featuring the area's finest live bands, food and beer concessions.

·OKTOBERFEST - Saturday, Oct. 13, from noon to 9 p.m.

This third annual Oktoberfest benefits the Downtown Niagara Falls Business Association and features music by the Bergolz German Band and the German-American Musicians, authentic performers, cuisine, beer and wine.
