The Lewiston Peace Garden, located in the Village Courtyard, 476 Center St., was selected to participate in Binational Doors Open 2012, taking place on Friday, June 15, through Sunday, June 17.

"The Ties That Bind" is a new, three-day program that will begin on Friday evening with a "Christoesque" art installation. Hundreds of scarves, in a myriad of shapes and colors, will be tied together and strung throughout the garden. The colorful display, donated by both Canadian and American women, will signify the many ways that women in both countries are bound together in peace and friendship.

Organizers need hundreds of scarves in order for this project to make an impact. Those participating and donating a scarf or scarves will be recognized. The deadline is June 1. Scarves may be dropped off at the Red Brick Municipal Building, 145 N. Fourth St., or dropped in the door slot at the Lewiston Council on the Arts office at 475 Ridge St.
