Niagara County will once again host the annual Senior Walk in the Park on June 7.

SWIP was established in May 2001 to celebrate older adults and promote healthy living and activities in a community setting. The inaugural gathering was at Goat Island in Niagara Falls. More than 250 people participated in the 2011 event at the John Duke Senior Center in Niagara Falls despite chilly temperatures.

SWIP 2012 will take place at a new location, the Calvin K. Richards Senior Center/Youth Activity Center, Veterans Memorial Park, 7000 Lockport Road in the Town of Niagara. The event is free to the public with registration beginning at 10 a.m. and offers a choice of three routes. The festivities will include warm-up activities, a health fair, health screenings, entertainment, refreshments, and raffles.
