Niagara County Community College will kick off its 50th anniversary year July 27 to 29 with the return of the Balloons Over Niagara weekend.

The festival, held on the NCCC Sanborn campus, will feature 50 hot air balloons. Four balloon launches are planned as well as a balloon glow on Friday night.

The first Balloons over Niagara event in 2008 was a huge success, with more than 10,000 attendees over the course of three days. This year even more activities have been added including a chicken barbecue, fireworks, artisans and crafters, live music, car show, 5K Run, and a Kid's Corner.

Volunteers are needed throughout the weekend for all types of jobs, including helping with the 5K race, working in the in the kids activity area, and helping with the individual balloon launches. If you are interested in volunteering, you can find out more information at http://bit.ly/I5RZ3R.

A community fair will be held on Saturday and Sunday and it is open to all businesses, nonprofit organizations, crafters and artists. A fee of $50 will be charged to participate in the Community Fair for the weekend.
