Park offers a variety of fun jobs for friendly people
People looking for a job this summer need look no further than Darien Lake, which plans to hire an additional 1,000 employees for its 2012 season.
More than 1,500 team members are already on board, so jobs are filling fast. With less than three weeks to go until the park opens on May 12, more than 15 departments are looking for candidates with a variety of skill sets and experience. Immediate opportunities are available in food service, park services, ride operations, retail, accommodations and campground housekeeping. Other opportunities are available in games, gift shop sales, aquatic operations, skilled trades and park maintenance, entertainment, guest services, security and safety.
For the 2,500 total employees the park will hire this season, 2012 will be one of the best years to join the Darien Lake team. The park recently added $5 million in new rides, entertainment, lodging and park upgrades to significantly improve the overall experience of its guests, and it has a completely new management team in place.
"Darien Lake is the largest seasonal employer in Western New York, and it is a great place for great people to work, because we offer something for everyone," said Christopher Thorpe, assistant general manager and director of human resources at Darien Lake. "We are looking for fun, friendly and outgoing individuals to help us make memories for our guests. Darien Lake offers people the opportunity to learn fundamental business and guest-service skills while applying their unique talents and abilities to the job, all in a fun, rewarding team environment."
The park's operating schedule is primarily weekends and holidays throughout May and June, with full-season daily operation beginning June 15. Staffing levels adjust during these time periods and grow larger once the season is in full swing.
