The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigations in two separate motor vehicle fatalities that occurred over the weekend on Saunders Settlement Road in the Town of Cambria.

According to NCSO reports, on Friday evening, April 13, a pickup truck was travelling eastbound on the 4700 block of Saunders Settlement Road when its driver lost control. The vehicle crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle head-on. The driver who remains unidentified was pronounced dead at the scene.

Occupants of the other vehicle, two males and two females, were taken to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo and are listed in critical-to-stable condition. They remain unidentified.

NCSO attributed the cause of the accident to imprudent speed by the driver, according to news reports.

On Sunday morning, April 15, that stretch of Saunders Settlement Road was the scene of another fatality from a vehicle rollover near the intersection of Old Shawnee Road.

Sheriff's deputies reported a vehicle was travelling eastbound when its driver lost control, crossed over the centerline and exited the roadway to the north. The driver, listed as a 29-year-old female who remains unidentified, was ejected in the mishap. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center in Lewiston. An unidentified male passenger was being treated for minor injuries.

NCSO again listed imprudent speed by the driver and wet road conditions as contributing factors in the accident.
