Event to honor military personnel as Lewiston Citizens of the Year

The Lewiston Democratic Committee has announced U.S. Congresswoman Kathy Hochul, D-27th District, will be the keynote speaker at a brunch honoring several returning military personnel from the war on terrorism. The committee will honor its Lewiston Citizens of the Year for 2012 on Sunday, April 29, at the Niagara Frontier Country Club, 1058 Lake Road, Youngstown.

Patrick Roemer, Ricardo "Rick" Flores, Michael Federspiel and Marc Vaccarello will be recognized for their heroic efforts for their country and their fellow citizens. The honorees have all recently returned from tours of duty overseas.

Hochul, who will run for re-election this year in the new 27th Congressional district (Lewiston, Porter, Ransomville, Youngstown and Sanborn), will be joined at the event by Chris Krieger, recent recipient of a Purple Heart for his military service. Krieger is the founder of WNY Heroes, a group whose mission is to provide veterans, members of the armed services, and the widows and children of deceased veterans with access to essential services, financial assistance and resources that support their lives and sustain their dignity. Attendees are asked to bring canned and/or dry food items and toiletries for WNY Heroes.

The brunch runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For ticket or program advertisement information, call 716-754-9545 or 716-622-6275.
