Erie County Sheriff's Office Report for March 9, 2012
by jmaloniThe Erie County Sheriff's Office reports its officers responded to 139 calls from Feb. 25 to March 2. Below is a sampling of only those incidents the ECSO reported to the Island Dispatch.
Saturday, Feb. 25
•Park Place, suspicious vehicle - A complainant stated that a suspicious vehicle was seen driving around in the neighborhood. Patrol checked the area, but was unable to locate the vehicle.
•Sandy Beach Road, loud music - A complainant stated that loud music was being played in the area. Deputies located the source and advised the homeowner.
Sunday, Feb. 26
•Grand Island Boulevard, drunk driving - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 31-year-old man from Amherst for driving while intoxicated. The man was additionally charged with felony DWI for having a previous conviction of DWI. He refused to submit a sample of his breath for chemical analysis. He was released on traffic tickets returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.
Tuesday, Feb. 28
•Bedell Road, drunk driving - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 44-year-old man from Grand Island for DWI. He registered a .16 percent blood-alcohol content after he submitted to a chemical analysis of his breath. He was released on traffic tickets returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.
•Love Road, criminal mischief - Several neighbors stated that sometime during the night an unknown person stole items from vehicles. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Friday, March 2
•Fix Road, larceny - Several neighbors stated that sometime during the night an unknown person stole items from vehicles. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
•Grand Island Boulevard, assault - Following an investigation of a disturbance at a bar, deputies arrested a 42-year-old man from Niagara Falls for harassment in the second degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree. Also arrested was a 29-year-old man from Grand Island for assault in the second degree. The 42-year-old was released on appearance tickets returnable to Town of Grand Island Court, while the 29-year-old was transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment
