The nonprofit National Private Duty Association will host a consumer education Web conference titled "Depression and Older Adults - What Every Caregiver Should Know" at 8 p.m. March 13.

The free Web conference topics include diagnosis of depression; the association between depression, anxiety and memory loss; understanding which medications are safe and effective; and resources and tools for monitoring treatment and improvement.

"One out of three older adults suffers from major depression," said Sheila McMackin, president of NPDA. "Our goal is to provide information to help family caregivers increase the quality of life and identify beneficial treatment and care options for their loved ones."
