The 13th annual Sport Martial Arts Championship International Tournament will be held at the Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls, on Friday, March 9, from 5 to 11 p.m., and Saturday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants range in age from 4 years old to adult. Spectators are welcome.

The tournament is part of the National Black Belt League, the National Martial Arts Circuit and International Federation of Martial Arts. The weekend also features the qualifier for the National Black Belt League World Games on Saturday evening from 7:27 to 11 p.m.

"For the past 12 years, we have prided ourselves in running the most organized, efficient and competitor-friendly tournament in the northeast," said Diane Cain, event promoter. She and her husband, Ron, are owners of Cain's Taekwondo Academy in Batavia.

The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls allows for spacious warm-up and spectator areas. The tournament also provides video screens throughout the venue so that competitors and their families will know what divisions are up in each ring from anywhere in the room.

The event is a 16-point tournament sanctioned by the Can Am National and Empire Regional Conferences. Because of the successes of past tournaments, the SMAC International has been rated as a qualifier for the upcoming Super Grands, to be held in Buffalo in December.
