2012 extended Canadian goose season for New York State Parks

Beaver Island State Park, West River Parkway, Motor and Strawberry Islands:

The blind assignments for the extended Canada goose season (Feb. 25 through March 10) will be done by call-in only. Calls will be taken at 773-2010 between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon on the following dates:

  • Thursday, Feb. 23, for Saturday-Tuesday, Feb. 25-28
  • Tuesday, Feb. 28, for Wednesday-Friday, Feb. 29-March 2
  • Thursday, March 1, for Saturday-Tuesday, March 3-6
  • Tuesday, March 6, for Wednesday-Saturday, March 7-10

All call-in permits must be picked up at the park office by 4 p.m. prior to the day of the hunt. 

A boat is required to be on site, "at the ready," for use in retrieving or rescue, as necessary.

To participate in the lottery drawings or call-ins, hunters must present a valid New York state small game hunting license with a signed duck stamp, proof of registration in the harvest information program, and proof of completion of a waterfowl ID course. Participants may contact the Beaver Island State Park Office at 716-773-3271 weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. for more information.

Fort Niagara, Wilson-Tuscarora and Golden Hill State Parks:

Blind assignments for the northern parks extended Canadian goose season (March 1-12) will also be done by call-in only. 

Calls will be taken at 745-7273 from 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday (Feb. 23-24) for hunting the first five days of the season (March 1-5) and another call in on Wednesday and Thursday (March 1-2) for hunting the last five days of the season (March 6-10). Permits must be picked up at the Fort Niagara park office by 4 p.m. Monday through Fridays prior to the hunt.
